About Me

  • I'm a technology exec who calls Silicon Valley home. As the Vice President of Product Development at PayCycle, I lead an organization that includes User Experience, Engineering, QA, IT, and Operations. During the past 10 years, I've held various management roles in Cassatt, Sun Microsystems, and Schlumberger. Most recently, as the VP of Product Engineering at Cassatt, I led the definition and launch of a new product line that helps enterprises manage their data center resources more efficiently. As a senior engineering manager at Sun Microsystems, I was responsible for several Java, XML, and Web Services technologies. At Schlumberger, I developed real-time engineering software in Tulsa and Austin and then led a new development team in Paris, France. I have worked for IBM and EDS and had founded Victory Software, a small start-up that developed game software. On an educational note, I have several degrees from Rice University: MS Electrical Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, and BA Computer Science. On a personal note, I am an avid (but not great) golfer. My enthusiasm for the game outpaces my handicap.

Welcome

Welcome to the new PayCycle blog. I'm Vinay Pai, the Vice President of Product Development at PayCycle. In my blog, I'll talk about various technology topics from Web 2.0 to mobile devices, and I'll also share how tips and techniques from what we've learned at PayCycle. After all, we have one of the leading Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) implementations in the payroll space. And over the past 9 years, we've developed a base of over 85,000 customers who pay over 500,000 employees using our service. 


In PD, we've got a lot of things cooking, and I hope to give you some insights into what we're doing. There will be some things I can't share, naturally, but I hope you can benefit from some of our experiences.
